PISTORIUS - MACHINE CO., INC.
MODELS VN-FA2 & VN-FA3,
Fully Automatic Air Operated VEE-NAIL™ Frame Assembly
Machines
|
|
| |
Generation 2 Models VN-FA2 and VN-FA3 are designed for high
production applications where set-ups will remain constant for longer
production runs.
The machine
is equipped with a micro processor controlled electro-pneumatic
logic circuit that controls all functions flawlessly. The electronic
micro processor is preprogrammed for a wide selection of VEE-NAIL™ fastener
assembly sequences. The operator simply selects the number of
VEE-NAIL™ fasteners to be inserted in the joint, from
one to six and sets the spacing between the nails and the machine
is ready. No complex computer set ups to be made. Extremely user
friendly.

| |
These machines are fast. A single cycle including clamping and inserting
two VEE-NAIL™ brands fasteners is completed within 1.3
seconds. A total of six fasteners inserted in three positions takes
just 2.2 seconds. With these speeds the machine is capable of producing
approximately 2500 frames per seven hour day. Of course, this production
rate will vary with the operator, type of material being joining,
number of fasteners per corner and the size of the frames being
assembled.
For larger
frames the machine operates most efficiently with the optional
floor stand, as shown in the illustrations above. The fully automatic
sequence, actuated by footpedal, leaves the operators hands free
for material handing, dramatically increasing production. The
operator only needs to place the premitered pieces into position
against the fences and step on the footpedal.
All design features of the model VN-A2are included in the models
VN-FA and VN-FA3 with the exception of the "power handle".
|
|
|
| |
The model VN-FA, is capable of inserting from one to four VEE-NAIL™ brand
fasteners in two positions. The model VN-FA3 is capable of inserting
from one to four VEE-NAIL™ brand fasteners in two positions.
The model VN-FA3 is capable of inserting from one to six VEE-NAIL™ brand
fasteners in three positions. VEE-NAIL™ brand fasteners
can be inserted at any point along the miter joint and can be stacked
at each of the selected nail positions. A Maximum of two fasteners
can be inserted at each fastener position.
|
|
| |
Operating controls are simple, user friendly and well arranged for
ease of use. Independent regulators with gauges are provided for
both the horizontal {rabbet} clamp and the vertical clamp. Fully
adjustable nail position stops with calibrated scales are provided.
Two stops are provided on the model VN-FA and three stops are provided
on the model VN-FA3. Rotary knobs are provided to select the number
of nails from zero to two at each nail position.
|
|
|
| |
The optional pressure feed glue dispenser makes
glue application a breeze. Apply glue while the part is in the operators
hand. Only apply glue to one side of the miter joint. Easy to control
glue quantity and distribution, compared to the mess of bottles
and brushes.

OPTIONAL MANUAL OVERIDE CIRCUIT
There are occasions where a machine is needed for both low production
"custom" framing and high production framing for ready
made frames. The manual overide circuit option is offered to fill
this need. The manual overide circuit option is only available for
the models VN-FA and VN- FA3.
The optional circuit allows the machine to be used in the "manual"
mode with the "power handle" or in the fully automatic
mode as described on these pages. The machine is equipped with a
rotary switch which allows selection of manual or automatic operation.
The "power handle" is to be used only when in the manual
mode. This low cost option can allow much greater utility and versatility
for the single machine purchaser.

Important Warning :
It is extremely important that operators be thoroughly instructed
in the proper and safe operation of the machine prior to use. VEE-NAIL™ stampings
have sharp edges and can cause serious injury. Hands and fingers
must be kept out of the clamping and nail driving area at all times.
When the machine is not use or is undergoing maintenance or adjustments,
disconnect and lock out electrical and pneumatic service. Safety
guards must never be removed except during maintenance. The machine
must not operated unless in perfect operating condition and all
guards and safety devices are securely in place and in proper adjustment.
